How to create your ad and subscribe

1. Enter your business details

   Choose “Create ad — $29/month” and complete one form with your business name, official website, primary Orange County city, category, and an accurate description of at least 300 characters. A company logo, services, and Orange County presence details are optional. Your contact email is private. Describe your real local presence, including whether you have a storefront or serve customers in the area.

2. Your listing passes automatic checks

   OCDIR validates required information and applies spam and duplicate protection. Public submissions require administrator review before publication and checkout. No business-owner verification is required to purchase advertising for an approved listing. If validation fails, correct the form before continuing.

3. Continue directly to secure Stripe checkout

   After your listing is approved, use Manage billing in the original browser or restore your billing access to open Stripe checkout for the $29/month plan. You do not need to search for your new listing or submit a separate ownership claim. Review the recurring price and enter your payment information on Stripe. The checkout is linked to the ad you just created.

4. Payment confirms your first refresh

   After Stripe confirms a successful payment, paid benefits activate: the listing receives a Featured badge, becomes eligible for rotating placements, and starts recording performance. OCDIR also refreshes the listing. Returning from checkout alone is not payment confirmation. If confirmation is still processing, the billing page lets you check its status without creating another ad.

Featured visibility and monthly republishing

While paid access is active, your listing shows a Featured · Paid badge on its profile and directory cards. Dedicated Featured sections on the homepage and relevant city and category pages rotate eligible paid businesses in equal turns, advancing each minute. Placement is advertising, not an ownership verification or endorsement. The number of impressions depends on actual visitors; equal rotation does not guarantee equal traffic.

Your first successful subscription payment and each successful monthly renewal update the listing’s republished date. This moves it into OCDIR’s recently published and refreshed listings, where newer entries appear first. Other businesses may appear ahead of yours as they are published or refreshed; no permanent position is reserved.

Your business keeps its original profile, details, and URL. Renewals do not create duplicate business pages. The service refreshes visibility within OCDIR; it does not rewrite your description, add new photographs, or submit your website to other directories.

Private performance reports

Open Manage billing, choose your listing, then select View monthly performance report. Reports show listing views, official website clicks, phone clicks and Featured impressions by UTC month, with up to 36 months of recorded history. Reports begin when tracking is enabled; past traffic is never invented.

A Featured impression requires at least half of a Featured card to be visible for one second. Views require a visible browser page. Repeated events are counted once per anonymous browser, business, placement surface and day. Automated traffic is filtered; disabled JavaScript and blockers can reduce counts. Clicks are not proof of a completed call, lead, or sale. Reports remain private to authorized owners, billing users and administrators.

Automatic renewal and payment timing

This is a recurring subscription, not a one-time $29 payment. Stripe charges $29 USD each month until you cancel. Your next billing date and current subscription details are available in the Stripe billing portal. Before starting, make sure you are comfortable with the ongoing monthly payment.

OCDIR only performs a paid refresh after a successful payment. A declined or failed payment does not refresh the listing or extend paid access. Benefits remain through the last confirmed paid period and then expire automatically. If Stripe reports a payment problem, use Manage billing to update your payment method and review the subscription. Your existing free listing remains subject to the same directory standards.

Manage, cancel, or return later

Open Manage billing to access your listing’s subscription page, then choose the Stripe management button to view billing details, change your payment method, or cancel. Cancellation is scheduled for the end of the current paid period. The portal shows your cancellation status; no further monthly renewals occur after cancellation takes effect.

Canceling the paid service leaves your free listing published, provided it continues to meet OCDIR’s editorial standards. There are no further paid refreshes after the subscription ends. The Featured badge and rotation eligibility disappear when paid access expires; your free listing and recorded report history remain.

For a newly created ad, billing access is saved in the browser you used. Save the private billing recovery code shown on your billing page in a password manager. On another device, enter that code at Manage billing. Keep it private because it allows subscription management. If you lose access, contact billing support.

If you leave Stripe before paying, return to your listing’s subscription page in the same browser to continue. If checkout encounters an error, your ad is saved and you can retry without creating a second business listing.

What the plan does not promise

The $29 plan is an OCDIR directory feature. It does not guarantee Google indexing, search rankings, website traffic, inquiries, or sales. Eligible public pages can appear in OCDIR’s XML sitemaps, but search engines independently decide whether and when to index them. A subscription does not buy approval for inaccurate, duplicate, or unsuitable content.
